Job Description

Visa is looking for a DevOps Engineer to modernize the platform for innovative products using containers, Kubernetes, and Service Mesh. The focus for the team you will be joining is to leverage containers, improve monitoring and logging libraries for containerization, improve developer efficiency, and improve continuous integration and deployments. In this role, you will build toolsets that are required for building, deploying, and operating our applications in Kubernetes and Service Mesh infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

Research and implement toolsets that help developers use Containers, Kubernetes and Service Mesh (Istio)

Develop tools for developers, operations and release teams to use Kubernetes and Service Mesh with ease

Build traffic routing, service discovery, secrets, and access control solutions

Ensure platform security, and implement security best practices

Have a passion for delivering zero-defect and highly resilient code and be responsible for ensuring the team's deliverables exceed the prescribed availability and defect SLA

Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work

experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2 or more years of relevant

experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 1 years of relevant

experience with a PhD
• 2+ years of hand-on experience with Devops techniques building continuous integration solutions

using Ansible, bash, docker, git, maven/gradle.
• Knowledge of programming using Python or Go.
• Strong Docker, Container, Kubernetes, Service-Mesh Experience
• Linux scripting knowledge
• Good grasp of IP networking, load balancing, DNS
• Experience working with APIs, especially RESTful services
• Knowledge of source control practice
• Passionate about improving user experience
