Head of Software Engineering

We're seeking an experienced professional with a broad background in Software Engineering. This role places you at the forefront of rapidly building a world-class software engineering capability in our Bengaluru hub and across our global delivery centres. You will inherit an existing team of circa 60 people, with a view to growing that team significantly in the coming years. You’ll join Version 1 India's leadership team, driving the growth of our Global Capability Centre (GCC).
You’ll ideally have experience orchestrating hybrid teams (some remote, some in-office) for delivery to remote customers, for example, delivering software from India for customers in the UK or the US. You’ll have worked in client-facing roles during your career and understand how to coach a consultative approach to working with customers.
In this role you’ll be a pragmatist, ready to get hands-on where necessary, to identify and understand deep technical problems when they emerge, and to coach teams to ensure consistently high-quality delivery. You’ll need to be able to translate technical or process challenges such that non-technical stakeholders can follow and understand.
You will be accountable for:
• Quality of software produced across all customer engagements and for the behaviours of the teams
• Direct line management of technical leaders and cascaded management of all technical staff
• Developing and executing a plan to ensure consistent engineering excellence across multiple engagements and teams
• Ensuring training and continued development and progression of technical staff
