Required skills & Education:
DB2 administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM's DB2 database management system. The administrator is also responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the database, as well as optimizing its performance.
The DB2 administrator is a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of DB2 databases, and requires a broad range of technical skills and experience.
Key responsibilities of a DB2 administrator may include:
• Installing and configuring DB2 software on servers
• Creating and managing database instances and users
• Monitoring database performance and identifying and resolving issues
• Developing and implementing backup and recovery procedures
• Managing database security and access control
• Creating and modifying database schema and objects
• Tuning database performance and optimizing SQL queries
• Planning and executing database migrations and upgrades
• Providing technical support to users and developers
• Documenting database administration procedures and policies.
• The DB2 administrator must have a strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, and backup and recovery procedures. They should also be proficient in SQL programming and have experience with database administration tools.
Other desirable skills for a DB2 administrator may include:
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of database replication and high availability technologies (HADR)
• Understanding of database security and compliance requirements
• Experience with cloud-based database platforms, specifically in Azure.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
